HIP One by Genzeon Platforms Wins 2026 MedTech Breakthrough “Clinical Efficiency Innovation Award”
The Reasoning Lobe of the Healthcare Brain is recognized for shifting manual medical review to fast, transparent, citation-anchored clinical decision execution — production-validated under the CMS WISeR Model.
EXTON, Pa. — May 7, 2026 — Genzeon Corporation today announced that HIP One, the clinical intelligence platform from its platforms subsidiary Genzeon Platforms, has been named winner of the Clinical Efficiency Innovation Award in the 10th annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards — an independent market intelligence program recognizing the most innovative companies, technologies, and products in the global digital health and medical technology market.

HIP One — the Reasoning Lobe of the Healthcare Brain — is the platform Genzeon Platforms built to retire one of the most expensive, slowest, and most error-prone workflows in U.S. healthcare: manual clinical review of prior authorization, utilization management, and medical-necessity cases. Rather than augmenting the legacy queue with another point tool, HIP One restructures the workflow itself. The platform automatically ingests and digitizes medical records, removes duplications, and extracts the clinically relevant data into structured views and concise summaries. Its Decision Support System (DSS) decomposes payer coverage guidelines into atomic checklist questions, pre-populates each response from the record, and presents page-level citations in a side-by-side view — giving the reviewing nurse a transparent, repeatable, and defensible chain of evidence for every determination. The platform supports automated affirmations on appropriate cases and routes the rest to clinical staff, who retain final decision authority on every case.
This architecture is not theoretical. HIP One is the platform behind Genzeon Platforms’ production deployment under the CMS Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) Model — the federal government’s first commercial-AI-assisted prior authorization model — running live in New Jersey under MAC JL with Novitas Solutions. In its first quarter in production, HIP One processed 12,609 Medicare Fee-for-Service prior authorization cases and sustained 100 percent compliance with the CMS three-day turnaround standard, decisioning the majority of cases within one day. The full case study is published at genzeon.one/research/wiser-case-study.
“We saw that incremental tools and generic AI were not solving the administrative burden buried in clinical review — they were just adding to it. HIP One is the platform Genzeon Platforms built around a different premise: that clinical review is a reasoning workflow, and that the reviewer needs an architecture that organizes evidence, not a chatbot that summarizes it. Recognition from MedTech Breakthrough is meaningful external validation of an architecture that our New Jersey customers and the CMS Innovation Center have already validated in production. Looking ahead, the Healthcare Brain extends upstream — preventing administrative friction before it begins, so clinicians can focus on the cases that genuinely require their judgment.”
— Ilanko Kumaresan, CEO, Genzeon
“What we are seeing in production under WISeR is more than incremental. Across clinical use cases, HIP One is delivering 70 to 90 percent improvement in clinical review throughput — the range reflects case mix and the rule pack in play. Complex clinical determinations that previously consumed substantial reviewer time are now resolving in under six minutes, with the clinician retaining final decision authority on every case. That is what we mean by cognitive capacity recovery — and it is the operational foundation of the Healthcare Brain.”
— Harsh Singh, GM Healthcare and Head of Genzeon Platforms
The 10th annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards program drew a record-breaking number of nominations from leading companies and startups across more than 20 countries. HIP One won in the Clinical and Health Administration category track — alongside same-section honorees Symplr (Best Clinical Efficiency Solution), Xsolis (Best Computerized Decision Support Solution), and Laudio (Health Administration Innovation Award) — three companies whose work shares HIP One’s mission of returning capacity to clinical staff. Across the wider 2026 program, HIP One is recognized alongside global healthcare leaders, including Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Fujifilm, Canon, athenahealth, IQVIA, Datavant, Aetna, Elsevier, Inovalon, PointClickCare, Teladoc, Lyra Health, Spring Health, Insulet, WellSky, TriNetX, Advarra, Validic, Castle Biosciences, Thorne, Zelis, Noom, TimelyCare, Vida, and Rula. This peer set underscores how broadly digital intelligence is reshaping care delivery in 2026. The full list of 2026 winners is published at MedTechBreakthrough.com/2026-winners.
“Registered nurses have traditionally had to manually review tens to hundreds of pages of medical records per case — a labor-intensive approach that produces decision delays, guideline drift, and audit-readiness gaps. By reducing manual burden, accelerating approvals, and aligning providers, nurses, and payers around consistent guidelines, HIP One delivers efficiency across the full continuum of care and coverage decisions. We’re proud to recognize Genzeon with the 2026 Clinical Efficiency Innovation Award.”
— Steve Johansson, Managing Director, MedTech Breakthrough
HIP One is one of three platforms Genzeon Platforms is unifying under the Healthcare Brain — alongside PES One (Patient Engagement Solutions, the Engagement Lobe) and CPS One (CompliancePro Solutions, the Prefrontal Cortex/governance layer). All three platforms run on the patent-protected Aether One™ agentic substrate, with 10 USPTO patents filed and an additional cohort in preparation — the full portfolio is published at genzeon.one.
